I OFFER PRIVATE HATHA YOGA LESSONS TO GROUPS OR INDIVIDUALS of all sorts, including those who are just getting started with yoga or have been practicing for years and need some extra support in their healing adventure or fitness goals. I also offer classes for businesses and private events. My specialties include gentle yoga, slow or fast paced yoga flow, restorative yoga and yoga nidra, all focusing on breathwork to activate the restorative healing powers of the parasympathetic nervous system and to connect with one's mind, body and spirit as well as with one's truth, consciousness and bliss (Sat-Chit-Ananda). I help clients modify poses to suit their energy levels, flexibility (or lack thereof) and strength, which is essential for cultivating a good relationship with the poses, with one's body and with one's yoga practice.
MY PRACTICE AND TEACHING ARE BOTH THE PRODUCT OF MY OWN HEALING JOURNEY and YOGIC ADVENTURE which began circa 1988 with the trauma of loosing my father to depression and alcoholism. I began studying yoga philosophy after graduating from UVA in 1991 and began practicing hatha yoga in 1996 after having an early midlife crisis of sorts. Yoga continues to be my chief self-care, self-regulating and self-healing strategy, helping me through many life and health challenges, including seven years of Lyme and multiple tick-borne diseases (2006-2013).
I LOVE TEACHING YOGA and reminding people to approach themselves, their bodies and their limitations and challenges with kindness, compassion and patience. I particularly enjoy helping clients to cultivated the yogic experience of simultaneous spaciousness and groundedness as they move through their practice and their lives.
